"Daniel Birnbaum: … I want to ask you about NowHere at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in 1996, a show that consisted of five sections. Your exhibition was titled ? and was co-curated by Fareed Armaly. What were your ambitions with this project?
Ute Meta Bauer: It was more about developing a narrative than an exhibition, with the museum as a reflective stage for the four chapters: Entrances, Storage, Museum, Pavilion. Lars Nittve's invitation to the guest curators was generous. He gave each of us the opportunity to develop our own section, functioning more as a satellite to introduce the fact that there is not one curatorial perspective on contemporary artistic production but many. Together with Fareed Armaly I invited artists, architects, designers who worked in various collaborative modes. We wanted to investigate and question from different angles the very function of the museum, referring to the fact that particular female artistic practices involve other media to circulate their issues."
